Water intrusion is one of the most common causes of mold issues and a leading cause of design and construction claims. Not only will it greatly reduce the operation of a building or home, but can become more widespread and expensive if not discovered and corrected in a timely manner. The causes of water intrusion can be as wide ranging as improper design, the use of inappropriate or defective materials, poor workmanship, or other external causes.
Some issues:
- High indoor humidity and resulting condensation
- Mold growth. Mold can only grow in the presence of high levels of moisture. People who suffer from the following conditions can be seriously harmed if exposed to elevated levels of airborne mold spores:
- asthma;
- allergies;
- lung disease; and/or
- compromised immune systems
